Over ten months I managed a total network conversion at La-Z-Boy Southeast: Remote Desktop moved to a load-balanced Windows 2012 R2 environment, legacy servers converted to Hyper-V with failover, Active Directory and Group Policy reorganized, the datacenter relocated to a new provider, every location cut over to a new MPLS network with dual backup internet, and the PBX re-pointed to a new SIP trunk provider.
The Challenge
Nothing on the list was optional and nothing could take the business down: aging servers, a datacenter move, a wide-area network conversion across every location, and a phone cutover — all interlocking, all on live infrastructure serving stores that open seven days a week.
