Student Government Association Voter Drive

As a member of the Student Government Association at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in 2006, I helped run a campus voter drive — encouraging and assisting students and staff to register and exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections.

A More Engaged Campus

The goal was simple but important: help a busy community-college campus get registered and informed before the election. That meant meeting students where they were, removing friction from registration, and making civic participation feel accessible to everyone.

What We Did

Registration Booths

Set up and staffed registration booths so students and staff could sign up on the spot.

Voter Education

Ran information sessions on the voting process and why civic participation matters.

Official Coordination

Coordinated with local election officials to keep registration smooth and accurate.

Community Outreach

Spread the word across campus to encourage broad, informed participation.

The Impact

A more politically engaged and informed student body — and a campus where registering to vote was easy, visible, and encouraged. It reflected a commitment to community involvement and democratic participation that has stayed with me ever since.
