I led La-Z-Boy Southeast’s migration of more than 150 users from an on-premises Exchange 2007 environment to hosted Exchange 365 — coordinating vendors and employees so mail kept flowing, security held, and no data was left behind.
The Challenge
Email is the one system a business notices instantly when it breaks. Moving 150+ mailboxes off an aging on-prem Exchange 2007 server meant planning around live operations: staged cutovers, credential changes, mobile devices, and users who needed the change to be boring.
What I Delivered

Migration planning
Staged the move so every mailbox had a plan — and every user knew what to expect.

150+ mailboxes moved
Every account, folder, and archive carried across to hosted Exchange 365.

Security maintained
Network security and data integrity held through every phase of the cutover.

Vendor coordination
Worked hand-in-hand with hosting partners to keep the timeline honest and the risks owned.

The Impact
A modern, hosted mail platform with the maintenance burden gone — and a migration users experienced as a non-event. The on-prem server was retired on schedule with data integrity intact.
The Boring Cutover
The highest compliment a migration gets is that nobody noticed it. Planning, communication, and vendor management made this one exactly that uneventful.
